So...I've been reading the PTI Smack blog, and they had a fantastic idea of using some of NH's cards as inspiration for a card, but using other company's products.
With that in mind, I started this blog with a weekly challenge to use a card picked from that blog to use as inspiration to your own cardmaking.
The first image I've chosen to challenge you with, comes from February 2012 Day 9 posting.
I think this is a beautiful card, and one that should be easy to reproduce. Use a Spellbinders label and a few Martha Stewart butterfly punches...viola!
Now this is just pure brilliance! What a great way to help us use non-Papertrey products to get "the look". Especially great for those of us who have dumped PTI once and for all due to their business practices.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, will get started on it tomorrow!
ReplyDeletePS - Can you get rid of word verification, it's so hard to read!
Beautiful card and great challenge!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! Is there going to be a linky or something where we can post our creations without "outing" ourselves?
ReplyDeleteI'm new to Blogger, never used it before, so I'm trying to find out where word verification is. LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm working on a way to post creations without "outing" yourself. Either a photobucket account, or maybe emailing my account with your photo and I'll post it myself, or something. Haven't figured that part out yet. :)
I was going to point you to the place to disable word verification, but since Blogger changed its layout recently, I can't find it. It should be under Design -> Comments, but I don't see it on my blog. Perhaps it's context sensitive and I don't see it because mine is already turned off, though, so it would be worth starting there.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Can I suggest that you also do some challenges based on the pre-release samples she posts? So that we can recreate stuff BEFORE it goes on sale...hehehehe
ReplyDeleteAllright, I think I got it to take off word verification.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that would be fun to do some pre-release examples as a challenge...there are LOTS of fun sets out there that look eerily similar to what's being released!
And yes, I will work on a way to add some suggestions too for companies that have similar stamps to those PTI has released.
Any other suggestions?
Just testing word verification. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's off now. Good job!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, linked up a card. There doesn't seem to be a way to see the picture any larger, so I tried to link again using a larger photo (as close to 1 MB as I can get). But now it says that "link already exists in this collection". So I think it's going to give us trouble if we try to all link back to the same blog post. FYI - I linked back to the instructions on how to post anonymously rather than linking back to NH's blog. Admin feel free to delete my linky and I'll repost with larger photo.
ReplyDeleteI'll work on a card this weekend. Thanks for starting this blog.
ReplyDeleteYep, I see that too...the only other way I can think of is if we use a photobucket account, or some other way to post pictures. I don't care if you use your blogs, and really, I don't think we're doing anything wrong, we're just an inspiration blog after all...but maybe for now, if you have a card you'd like to link up...you can email me your card and I'll upload it to the Photobucket account and link it here.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and Train wreck spectator, it won't link back to NH's blog. I downloaded the card and uploaded it here, so there is no active links between her blog and this site. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I figured out after my first link that I'd mis-read the instructions. But I still can't make it link in a way that the photo can be made bigger. Will email it to you instead. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain how to use a name besides anonymous without linking to their existing blog?
ReplyDeleteTo use a different name, choose the "Name/URL" option. Then fill out the name field and leave URL blank.
ReplyDeleteTrying again. If this works, thank you train wreck spectator!
ReplyDeletenot impressed by train wreck spectators card....was hoping for something to wow me.....
ReplyDeleteWow...that's not very nice. She's the only one so far that's posted. Let's see your card!
ReplyDelete#2......its just........I don't know...meh. was really hoping to be more inspired here than at PTI
ReplyDeleteYou do realize the people sharing here aren't on a Design Team, they're probably not graphic artists, etc. Basically we're just showing off cards that are CASE'ing a card from NH's blog and showing how you can make that same card using other companies' product.
ReplyDeleteIs there something you would rather see here?
I agree with yesterdays poster 0523.....so much talk about how bad everything is that my expectations were high too.....sorry really don't mean to offend. I love pti products.....it's such a dilemma for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, 11:11. Good thing I don't craft to please you. Truth be told, it's not my favorite thing I've ever made either, but I do like it.
